It’s Up to Us

Generations to come, it may be, will scarcely believe that such a one as this ever in flesh and blood walked upon this earth. (In reference to the death of Mahatma Gandhi.) – A. Einstein

I ran across the following article here

Gandhi’s Top 10 Fundamentals for Changing the World

Gandhi’s Top 10 Fundamentals for Changing the World“You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty.”

“The difference between what we do and what we are capable of doing would suffice to solve most of the world’s problem.”

“If I had no sense of humor, I would long ago have committed suicide.”

Mahatma Gandhi needs no long introduction. Everyone knows about the man who lead the Indian people to independence from British rule in 1947.

So let’s just move on to some of my favourite tips from Mahatma Gandhi.

1. Change yourself.

“You must be the change you want to see in the world.”

“As human beings, our greatness lies not so much in being able to remake the world – that is the myth of the atomic age – as in being able to remake ourselves.”

If you change yourself you will change your world. If you change how you think then you will change how you feel and what actions you take. And so the world around you will change. Not only because you are now viewing your environment through new lenses of thoughts and emotions but also because the change within can allow you to take action in ways you wouldn’t have – or maybe even have thought about – while stuck in your old thought patterns. Clinton and the Old Cow

Hillary Clinton and her driver were cruising along a country road one evening when an old cow loomed in front of the car. The driver tried to avoid it but couldn’t. The aged bovine was struck and killed.

Hillary told her driver to go up to the farmhouse and explain to the owners what had happened. She stayed in the car making phone calls to lobbyists.

About an hour later the driver staggered back to the car with his clothes in disarray. He was holding a half-empty bottle of expensive wine in one hand, a rare, huge Cuban cigar in the other, and was smiling happily, smeared with lipstick.

“What happened to you,” asked Hillary? “Well,” the driver replied, “the farmer gave me the cigar, his wife gave me the wine, and their beautiful twin daughters made passionate love to me!”

“My God, what did you tell them?” asked Hillary. The driver replied, “I just stepped inside the door and said, I’m Hillary Clinton’s driver and I’ve just killed the old cow. The rest happened so fast I couldn’t stop it.

A Horse, A Chicken & A Harley

This one is good and worth repeating here:

On the farm lived a chicken and a horse, both of whom loved to play together. One day the two were playing, when the horse fell into a bog and began to sink. Scared for his life, the horse whinnied for the chicken to go get the farmer for help Off the chicken ran, back to the farm. Arriving at the farm, he searched and searched for the farmer, but to no avail, for he had gone to town with the only tractor.

Running around, the chicken spied the farmer’s new Harley. Continue reading

Mosquito Ringtones

I heard on the news that kids are installing these mosquito ringtones on their cell phone so that old people (like teachers) won’t know when they are receiving text messages. As you grow older, your ability to detect high-pitched tones disappears.

I was skeptical so I tested it out. Evidently, I should be 49 years old now based on my lack of hearing. Click on the link above and let me know how you did.

Easily Impressed / A New Bryson Activity

Tonight, when I squirted the lotion on Bryson’s chest after his bath, he started rubbing in the lotion himself. This, of course, impressed me greatly and reinforced my thoughts that he is quite possibly the smartest boy in the whole world. (I do realize that my point of view might be skewed)

note: I justify my yammering by thinking that if I write all this stuff here, perhaps a few people will be spared listening to these details in person.
