Mountain Biking at Erwin Park

Amber and I tried to ride our bikes through Erwin Park in McKinney. One of the websites has this trail listed as a “beginner’s trail”. I am telling you that is a load of BS! Check out this video to get some idea of what is there:

Don’t Tell Bryson’s Mom

I was on Bryson duty tonight so Amber could have a girls night out. After dinner, we went for our ritual outside time in the backyard. Bryson was having a good time entertaining himself, walking all over the yard exploring things. I thought he might like to play with the water hose and there is a part of the lawn that needed watering, so I figured I could solve both of these needs with a single solution. As Bryson started getting into playing in the water, I could see mud forming around his feet, and I figured I’d better take off his shirt so it didn’t get stained.

Then I smelled the dirty diaper.

So now I have a dilemma: If I take him inside at this point, he is going to get mad because he just started playing. I can’t let a dirty diaper stay on and eat up his skin. Again, I used my problem solving skills to find a solution to both problems, and again a single solution prevailed.

So for about 30 minutes, there was a naked baby running around the back yard playing in the water. Everyone was happy, but I’m sure some people wouldn’t approve.

The Pickens Plan

www.pickensplan.com
T. Boone Pickens is a old oil-man. He realizes we are in trouble and has a plan. His plan makes sense. Check out his website above.

1- Start using CNG and bio-fuels to power our vehicles. (use our own natural resources instead of importing fuel)
2- Use more wind and solar for electricity generation. (free up natural gas use for vehicles, invest in infrastructure, create jobs)

Knol – A Better wikipedia?

Google took their new website knol.google.com live yesterday. This site is basically like wikipedia, but will answer some of it’s shortcomings. Although I personally love the idea of user-generated content, it unfortunately don’t always work perfectly. The quality of the facts isn’t always what is needed, and it is proven once again that a certain number of humans seek to spread ill-will, do harm to others, or engage in dishonest acts.

The content at Knol will be generated by “experts”, or at least verified people. Content will be voted on or rated by users. Ads may also appear on the pages, and authors of the articles will have the option of receiving a percentage of the revenue generated from those ads.

I’m a big fan of Google, and I agree that “The more good free content, the better for the world.” Right now, the number of articles is very limited, but I hope to see the content grow like widipedia has.

…and then the fight started

When I got home last night, my wife demanded that I take her someplace expensive…. so, I took her to a gas station…..

…and then the fight started….

*****

After retiring, I went to the Social Security office to apply for Social Security. The woman behind the counter asked me for my driver’s license to verify my age. I looked in my pockets and realized I had left my wallet at home. I told the woman that I was very sorry, but I would have to go home and come back later.
The woman said, ‘Unbutton your shirt’.
So I opened my shirt revealing my curly silver hair..
She said, ‘That silver hair on your chest is proof enough for me’ and she processed my Social Security application. Continue reading

Alabama Vasectomy

My dad used to tell this joke back in the day, except I think it was in the flavor of an Aggie joke.

After their 11th child, an Alabama couple decided that was enough, as they could not afford a larger bed. So the husband went to his doctor and told him that he and his cousin didn’t want to have any more children. The doctor told him that there was a procedure called a vasectomy that could fix the problem but that it was expensive. “A less costly alternative,” said the doctor, “is to go home, get a cherry bomb, (fireworks are legal in Alabama) light it, put it in a beer can, then hold the can up to your ear and count to 10..”

The Alabamian said to the doctor, “I may not be the smartest tool in the shed, but I don’t see how putting a cherry bomb in a beer can next to my ear is going to help me.” “Trust me,” said the doctor.

So the man went home, lit a cherry bomb and put it in a beer can. He held the can up to his ear and began to count! “1, 2, 3, 4, 5″…

Russ Martin Arrested

I saw a mug shot of my favorite radio talk show host this morning. A quick search of details didn’t say much: arrested for assault with injury with a deadly weapon. I noticed he had changed his myspace profile photo to his mug shot, so I was pretty sure this was a publicity stunt.

After reading the arrest paperwork, it appears this might be legit, but I doubt it. I hope to hear more about it tomorrow afternoon.
