Goodbye Toro Beast

I finally decided to let go of my mower that I bought new in 1987. (I was in Junior High at the time) I bought it with ambitions of getting rich mowing lawns. I wish I would have kept track of how many yards I’ve mowed with it, the number is probably in the millions. I carelessly let it run out of oil in 2002 and paid to have a replacement motor retrofitted to the deck. It has sat in the garage unused for 2 years now… I figure I’ve moved on in life and my lawn mowing days are over, until I get a tractor that is.

Wire Feed Welder

I’ve been watching craigslist for some time now for a good deal on a MIG welder.  I finally found a light duty unit here in Allen.  I was hoping to find one with a little more capacity, but for $150, this one was an excellent deal.  It came with a nice cart and the gas regulator… ready for the MIG conversion.  Turns out the guy I bought it from is a car buff that used to build dune-buggies in Midland.

Below is a letter sent from United Airlines to a friend of mine.  Take a look at the information below and consider sending an automated letter to your congresspersons via the website.  (it is easy!)

—–

Last week, crude oil hit an all-time high of $146, and the skyrocketing cost of fuel is impacting our customers, our employees, the communities we serve, and the economy as a whole. United, and the majority of other major U.S. airlines, are asking our most loyal customers to join us in pushing for legislation to add Continue reading

INSTALLING A HUSBAND

Dear Tech Support,

Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed a distinct slow down in overall system performance, particularly in the flower and jewelry applications, which operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0.

In addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled many other valuable programs, such as
Romance 9.5 and Personal Attention 6.5, and then installed undesirable programs such as:
NBA 5.0,
NFL 3.0 and
Golf Clubs 4.1

Conversation 8.0 no longer runs, and Housecleaning 2.6 simply crashes the system.

Please note that I have tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems, but to no avail.

What can I do?

Signed,
Desperate.

Five Minute Management Course

Lesson 1:

A man is getting into the shower just as his wife is finishing up her shower, when the doorbell rings.

The wife quickly wraps herself in a towel and runs downstairs.

When she opens the door, there stands Bill , the next-door neighbor.

Before she says a word, Bill says, ‘I’ll give you $800 to drop that towel.’

After thinking for a moment, the woman drops her towel and stands naked in front of Bill , after a few seconds, Bill hands her $800 and leaves.

The woman wraps back up in the towel and goes back upstairs.

When she gets to the bathroom, her husband asks, ‘Who was that?’ Continue reading

Force and the Gun

The following letter might be common sense to some, but for others, it might be an eye-opener.

—–

Human beings only have two ways to deal with one another: reason and force. If you want me to do something for you, you have a choice of either convincing me via argument, or force me to do your bidding under threat of force. Every human interaction falls into one of those two categories, without exception. Reason or force, that’s it.

In a truly moral and civilized society, people exclusively interact through persuasion. Force has no place as a valid method of social interaction, and the only thing that removes force from the menu is the personal firearm, as paradoxical as it may sound to some.
