Anti-Obama Video

OK, so this video contains quite a bit of BS that reminds me of the fatass Michael Moore, but there are some points that I think are worthy. Take a look

1- Jeremiah Wright, the hate-monger racist. Obama’s “Spiritual Mentor” for something like 20 years?
2- Is it too much to ask that the man who wants to lead the USA wear a pin of the US Flag and put your hand on your heart during the national anthem?

Flame away!

Post-It Note Eye Patch

When I took my contact lens out to see what was so painful this morning at work, I found a rip in it. Bummer. I’ve got terrible eyesight, and I was stuck at work because I rode in with my neighbor. I couldn’t see what I was doing, so I fashioned an eye patch out of a post-it note and some tape. I don’t think anyone noticed.

Luckily my wonderful wife agreed to drive to my office with a new lens and saved the day.

Telecommunications Focus Group

I attended a 1 hour “marketing” meeting for a telecom company last night. They wanted to know what was important to me when I buy TV, Phone, and Internet services. They paid me $100, and I tried to eat as many cookies as I could before I left.

Some interesting observations:

  • Most people in the room considered these services (TV, Internet, Phone) “essential”.
  • 3 of the guys were saying that their 15M Interconnection was not fast enough.
  • One lady said she should be given speed as fast as technically possible, but didn’t want to pay extra.

Three Men on a Hike

Three men were hiking through a forest when they came upon a large, raging, violent river. Needing to get to the other side, the first man prayed: ‘God, please give me the strength to cross the river.’

Poof! God gave him big arms and strong legs, and he was able to swim across in about 2 hours, having almost drowned twice.

After witnessing that, the second man prayed: ‘God, please give me strength and the tools to cross this river.’

Poof! God gave him a rowboat, and strong arms, and strong legs, and he was able to row across in about an hour (after almost capsizing once).

Seeing what happened to the first two men, the third man prayed: ‘God, please give me the strength, the tools, and the intelligence, to cross this river.’

Poof! He was turned into a woman. She checked the map, hiked one hundred yards upstream, and walked across the bridge.

‘If at first you don’t succeed, do it the way your wife told you!’

Loving Wife

A man breaks into a house to look for money and guns.
Inside, he finds a couple in bed.
He orders the guy out of the bed and ties him to a chair.
While tying the homeowner’s wife to the bed
the convict gets on top of her, kisses her neck,
then gets up & goes into the bathroom.

While he’s in there, the husband whispers over to his wife:
‘Listen, this guy is an escaped convict. Look at his clothes!
He’s probably spent a lot of time in jail
and hasn’t seen a woman in years.
I saw how he kissed your neck. If he wants sex,
don’t resist, don’t complain…do what ever he tells you.
Satisfy him no matter how much he nauseates you.
This guy is obviously very dangerous.
If he gets angry, he’ll kill us both.
Be strong, honey. I love you!’

His wife responds: ‘He wasn’t kissing my neck.
He was whispering in my ear.
He told me that he’s gay, thinks you’re cute,
and asked if we had any Vaseline.
I told him it was in the bathroom.
Be strong honey. I love you too.’

Little Boys at the Pharmacy

Two young boys walked into a pharmacy one day, picked out a box of tampons and proceeded to the checkout counter.

The man at the counter asked the older boy, ‘Son, how old are you?’

‘Eight,’ the boy replied.

The man continued, ‘Do you know what these are used for?’

The boy replied, ‘Not exactly, but they aren’t for me. They’re for him. He’s my brother. He’s four. We saw on TV that if you use these you would be able to swim and ride a bike.

Right now, he can’t do either one. ‘

Only A Mom Would Know

One day my mother was out and my dad was in charge of me. I was maybe 2 1/2 years old and had just recovered from an accident. Someone had given me a little ‘tea set’ as a get-well gift and it was one of my favorite toys. Daddy was in the living room engrossed in the evening news when I brought Daddy a little cup of ‘tea’, which was just water.
After several cups of tea and lots of praise for such yummy tea, my Mom came home. My Dad made her wait in the living room to watch me bring him a cup of tea, because it was ‘just the cutest thing!’

My Mom waited, and sure enough, here I come down the hall with a cup of tea for Daddy and she watches him drink it up. Then she says, (as only a mother would know) ‘Did it ever occur to you that the only place she can reach to get water is the toilet?’

Sprouts and Cookbook

We went to a new grocery store called Sprouts today. They have a “farmer’s market” theme. They have lots of good produce, and natural and whole foods. Their prices were good too, on certain things. (they had nectarines for 39 cents/lb) Amber and I realized that we both don’t really know what to cook now that we are trying to switch to a whole-foods, plant-based diet. (I don’t say vegan, because I’m not sure I want to completely eliminate meat, plus that word makes me think of people that live to tell me why I should feel guilty for eating beef because the cow is mistreated and has equal rights under the PETA act of 2002)

I looked for a cookbook while at the store, but none of them really jumped out at me. I looked on Amazon.com when I got home to see what they had. I decided to get two cookbooks, one had great reviews because it had so many good recipes. The other book that caught my eye was from Mark Bittman, who is the author of the cookbook I use most “How to Cook Everything”. I was interested in this because I know many of the recipes in his original book rely very heavily on traditional American foods, like eggs, dairy, and meats. Mark’s reasoning behind writing this cookbook is answered on Amazon’s site:

Q. What motivated you to write a comprehensive cookbook of vegetarian recipes right now?
