Big-Help Bryson

I was messing around on the computer yesterday when I heard pots and pans rattling in the kitchen. I figured it was Amber. Then I heard the toilet flush and the bathroom door open. OOPS, Bryson was left unattended!!! We both scrambled into the kitchen to find the Bryson-Unit unloading the dishwasher. (He didn’t understand the dishes were still dirty) He was in the process of placing a big cookie sheet into the cutting board storage area.

Amber called me today to let me know that she found a bunch of dirty forks and spoons in the pen drawer. (The pen drawer is next to the silverware drawer.)

We Are the Church

A few points I picked up from Todd’s message today:
– You don’t go to “the church” you are “the church”, so be “the church”. (see footnote 1)
– We’ve stopped thinking, the church has lost it’s voice, we’ve had “convictions of convenience”. It is screwing this world up. We are the hope of the world. We must speak up. (silent majority)
– Holocaust Museum in Washington DC, says “Never Again”. It is happening again. Right now. It is the largest human rights violation in the world today.
– If you wait on the movie “Hotel Goma” to come out to find out what is going on, then shame on you.

Earlier this week, I was excited to learn that the “One Laptop Per Child” project was finally to the point where you can buy a laptop for a needy child. I was discussing buying one with my wife. Although I still feel that is a great cause, I don’t think it compares to the importance of helping out the people living in Congo right now. Besides money, they also need our help, military help, legal help, medical, etc. (we need to speak up and get involved to provide help to these people)

AAARRRRGGG!!! Help, I’m getting sucked in!

I’m getting addicted to TheSurvivalPodcast.com. Today’s episode talked about news of special interest to the folks living near Dallas. (DART taxing citizens an equivalent of $300,000 PER RIDER) Also, he mentions my name (mispronounced) because I was a winner of a tactical Christmas stocking.

Bigger picture for me is that this mentality is just one more component of and step toward my documentation of what I’m going to call “the meaning of life” or “how to live life” or “your so stupid if you don’t see these things”. (still haven’t worked out what format it will be yet)

The Survival Podcast

My co-worker, Steve, told me several weeks ago to check out thesurvivalpodcast.com. He explained that this guy recorded his podcast on his daily commute through DFW. I wasn’t interested enough at the time to find a way to listen to 30 minutes of what I figured was a “soldier of fortune” type nutbag rant about the need of stockpiling rolled oats and bottled water for a nuclear attack. This week, I’ve been doing some very repetitive programming tasks, and I’ve been able to listen to stuff while I’m working. I downloaded episode 81, which was mostly about gardening in the winter. I found his information to be pretty informative and helpful, and even a bit humorous at times. I also listened to episode 94 today, and he talked about the economy. Very interesting stuff, so take a look and tell me what YOU think!

Cute Little Girl Story

I was talking to a friend of mine’s little girl, and she said she wanted to be President some day. Both of her parents, liberal Democrats, were standing there, so I asked her, “If you were President, what would be the first thing you would do?” She replied, “I’d give food and houses to
all the homeless people.”

“Wow – what a worthy goal,” I told her, “but you know you don’t have to wait until you’re President to do that. You can come over to my house and mow the grass, pull weeds, and sweep my yard, and I’ll pay you $50. Then I’ll take you downtown where the homeless people hang out, and you can give them the $50 to use toward food or a new house.”

She thought that over for a few seconds, ’cause she’s only 6. And while her Mom glared at me, she looked me straight in the eye and asked, “Why don’t the homeless people come over and do the work, and you can just pay THEM the $50?” And I said, “Welcome to the Republican Party.”

Her folks still aren’t talking to me.

Flashlight Mounted

I used these cool rubber mounts to keep my fancy new 3 watt LED Maglight secure and in an easy to retrieve location. I wanted to mount in to the side of the seat, but there just wasn’t enough room, so I put it on the lower dash, where it will crush my knees if I’m ever in a serious accident.
