“Because We Have Barack Obama”
I was amused when I watched the video of Ms “I don’t have to pay my mortgage” after the BO acceptance speech, but this audio clip has me wondering just how many people out there actually think this way! This was a voicemail message received by a VP at a locally-owned bank in Lubbock, Texas.
White Guilt is Dead
I received this via email. If you can get through the ranting nature, you will probably hear some good points.

WHITE GUILT IS DEAD
By Tom Adkins
Look at my fellow conservatives! There they go, glumly shuffling along, depressed by the election aftermath. Not me. I’m virtually euphoric. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not thrilled with America ’s flirtation with neo socialism. But there’s a massive silver lining in those magical clouds that lofted Barak Obama to the Presidency. For today, without a shred of intellectually legitimate opposition, I can loudly proclaim to America : The Era of White Guilt is over.
This seemingly impossible event occurred because the vast majority of white Americans didn’t give a fluff about skin color, and enthusiastically pulled the voting lever for a black man. Not just any black man. A very liberal black man who spent his early career race-hustling banks, praying in a racist church for 20 years, and actively worked with America-hating domestic terrorists. Wow! Some resume! Yet they made Barak Obama their leader. Therefore, as of Nov 4th, 2008, white guilt is dead.
For over a century, the millstone of white guilt hung around our necks, retribution for slave-owning predecessors. In the 60s, American liberals began yanking that millstone while sticking a fork in the eye of black Americans, exacerbating the racial divide to extort a socialist solution. But if a black man can become President, exactly what significant barrier is left? The election of Barak Obama absolutely destroys the entire validation of liberal white guilt. The dragon is hereby slain. Continue reading
Pickens on the Daily Show
This guy simply makes sense. Take a look.
You can send a letter to President-Elect Barack Obama congratulating him on his historic victory and asking him to support the Pickens Plan by visiting http://action.pickensplan.com/obama.

MonkeySphere Thoughts
I re-read the Law of the Monkeysphere last week. I’ll get into what prompted me in another post, but I want to urge everyone who has not read this 2 page article to go do it now. If you read this and think about it just a little bit, it might change the way you see your world.
The setup:
…at one point or another we all have limits to our sphere of monkey concern. It’s the way our brains are built. We each have a certain circle of people who we think of as people, usually our own friends and family and neighbors, and then maybe some classmates or coworkers or church or suicide cult.
Those who exist outside that core group of a few dozen people are not people to us. They’re sort of one-dimensional bit characters.
…
We are hard-wired to have a drastic double standard for the people inside our Monkeysphere versus the 99.999% of the world’s population who are on the outside.
The problem:
We all go a little insane, though, when we get in a group larger than the Monkeysphere.

Obama Launches Change.gov
This seems like a good thing. (from slashdot)
“Obama has launched Change.gov. According to the site ‘Change.gov provides resources to better understand the transition process and the decisions being made as part of it. It also offers an opportunity to be heard about the challenges our country faces and your ideas for tackling them. The Obama Administration will reflect an essential lesson from the success of the Obama campaign: that people united around a common purpose can achieve great things.’ The site is extensive and contains Obama’s agenda for economy and education among many others. They first define the problem and then lay out the plan. Everything is in simple English without a trace of Washington-speak. The site also has details about the transition. According to many sources, Obama’s transition efforts started months ago. The copyright for the content is held by ‘Obama-Biden Transition Project, a 501c(4) organization’.”
Obama Mocks The Bible
I think many Christians will be alarmed by this video. If you were not turned off by the Reverend Wright relationship, you might not give it much thought. BO does claim to be a Christian, right?

Brake and Transmission Maintenance
I started to change out the brake master cylinder in Betty today, but when I started it up, the brake pedal was firm… made me think something else was the problem. The brake fluid was very dark, so I flushed out the system with the fancy new brake bleeder my mother-in-law bought me for my birthday.
