Entry for June 23, 2007 – Drag Races

Amber bought me tickets to the Texas Motorplex in Ennis for the day. The day was mostly qualifying races for Sunday, but there was a bonus race, and the qualifying races were awesome by themselves.

Here are a couple cars doing their burn-out.

You can walk through the trailers and look at the cars. This is a fast twin-turbo mustang.

The hood scoop on this big rig cracked me up.

Check out the truck bed on this tractor truck.

I’ll go ahead and add this motorized cooler to my wish list. There is even a compartment for you to get your beer without getting up!

Entry for June 17, 2007 – Father's Day

My first ever Father’s Day was today. Amber put lots of thought into her gifts to me, I’m very luck to have her!

And of course, more obligatory pictures of Bryson:

Look at the color of their hair… is there any question who this kid belongs to?

Cousin Shaun entertained Bryson some.

This was the cake at the shower. Too funny!

Krysten and Becca

All the women giving Bryson lots of attention.

The grandparents

Amber decided to experiment with the Mohawk hair style tonight after his bath. I’m not sure I approve.

Entry for June 07, 2007 – Lock #1, Mississippi River

Tonight after diner, we went to check out the lock and dam #1 of the Mississippi river. A double-barge came through the lock as we were there, so we got to see the whole process in action.

Entry for June 02, 2007 – Germs and Shopping Carts

Grocery shopping carts are the third most common place for nasty germs according to this Snopes.com article. And remember that handy flip-down seat near the handle just had a kid sitting in it with leaky diaper and some uncooked chicken parts in it before you place your bananas there.

Shared surfaces most favored by germs:

* Household: Kitchen sponge, kitchen sink, toilet bowl, garbage can, refrigerator, bathroom doorknob.

* Workplace: Phone receiver, desktop, keyboard, elevator button, toilet seat.

* Outdoor/public surfaces: Playground equipment, escalator handrail, shopping-cart handle, picnic tables, portable toilet.

Ten things more germ-laden than the average household toilet:

* Phone receiver
* Desktop
* Computer keyboard/mouse
* Doorknob
* Escalator handrail
* Elevator button
* ATM buttons
* Shopping cart handle
* Kitchen sink
* Subway turnstile

Entry for June 02, 2007 – Temperamental Bryson

I guess I might as well admit that I have become “one of those people” who are obsessing about their baby.

If you want to see more pictures of Bryson, check out his blog at brysontate.blogspot.com.

The following string of pictures was taken within a 1 minute time period.

Entry for May 20, 2007 – More Pictures of the Bryson-Unit

Bryson is growing “like a weed” now. He is getting to be too big for his newborn clothes. (We only got 7 weeks of use from a set of clothes, this is going to be more expensive than I thought.)

Here are some pictures Amber took while trying to get him to smile for the camera.

Mom was up for Shaun’s birthday party (cha cha cha).

Entry for May 11, 2007 – Creative ways to transport a baby

Amber says, “I had to get creative since I had to get some work done and Bryson likes to be held all the time.”

Entry for May 04, 2007 – Who's hands are these?

I signed up at babycenter.com to receive periodic e-mails that tell me what is going on with the baby according to their age. This is what should be going on right now:

Your baby is learning she has hands and fingers and feet and toes. Your little one is also starting to talk more. Not with words, of course, but her increasing goos, gurgles, and grunts mark the beginning of her language development.

It was earlier this week when Amber called me at work, “Guess what YOUR son is doing right now?”

I of course had no idea, “hmmm, no idea, please tell me”

“Bryson has a fist full of his own hair and is pulling on it, and I know it hurts because he is screaming like he is fighting for his life…. but he doesn’t understand to LET GO!”

Oh boy, this is going to be fun!
