I’m a little confused. Let me see if I have this straight…..

Some good points here, even if things are stretched a bit.

Grow up in Alaska eating mooseburgers, a quintessential American story.*

If your name is Barack you’re a radical, unpatriotic Muslim.

Name your kids Willow, Trig and Track, you’re a maverick. (In Carson City, the ‘Guv’ revealed to all that their daughter Piper was named after First Dude’s plane.)

Stubborn Ignorance

Source

Here’s what the U.S. Constitution says: “All bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills.” How many times have we heard politicians, pundits and guardians of our news media say that President Bush cut taxes, or Obama is going to raise taxes? The fact of the matter is that presidents have no power to raise or lower taxes. They can propose tax measures or veto them but it is Congress that has the ultimate power to raise or lower taxes since they can, with a two-thirds vote, override a presidential veto. The same principle applies to spending. Presidents cannot be held responsible for budget deficits or surpluses. A president cannot spend a dime that Congress does not first appropriate. Given these plain facts, are politicians, pundits and media people — who persist in talking about a president cutting or raising taxes, or creating a budget deficit — ignorant, stupid or deceptive?

If Betty ever runs again, this is what I’m doing!

It is a funny breed of person that will do this stuff to a car. (OK, I see the irony, I know) Rumor has it that this car used to have nice wheels too. I wonder if this was done as a joke, but something tells me the owner was all business. It really helps to have a good sense of humor!

Features on the rear: various fad stickers, chrome “turbo” and “limited edition” emblems, huge chrome exhaust tip, ill-fitted trunk lid, and a handicap license plate.

Online File Storage and more

Two web applications have become available to the public recently. They both do something very valuable, provide a method of keeping your personal files available to you, no matter what computer you are sitting at. These two applications actually do more than just that (they also let you share files), but I’m still learning. Oh, they are also available for use FREE of CHARGE!

Wuala

“Social Online Storage”
Wuala is a new way of storing, sharing, and publishing files on the internet. It’s a free desktop application for Windows, Mac, and Linux that brings you a convenient and secure online storage. You can use it to access your files from anywhere, to share files with friends and groups, or to publish files for the whole world to see. Free, simple, and secure.

Requires Java. Allows you to increase your storage by “donating” unused hard drive space, or by paying money. I had a little trouble getting it installed under Linux at home, but it does work nicely. 1GB for free.

Amber Saves Betty from a Firey Death

I had Friday off, and was determined to make significant progress on the Betty/WVO project. I had already created the holes needed to run my HIH (hose-in-hose) assembly through a frame member of the car. I fought with those hoses all morning. I can’t tell you how many times I had installed one hose, tried to pull the second one in, removed them both, tried again, pulled from the other direction, etc, trying to get both of them installed. I gave up in disgust, ready to set the car on fire and be done with it!

The rain prevented me from having the desire to go outside and look at the problem on Saturday, and by Sunday I figured I needed a second set of hands. Amber agreed to lend me a hand. After she saw what I was doing, she pointed to a hole plug, and asked “why don’t you remove that plug and look in there to see what is causing the problem?” OK, that seemed logical, and I had never even noticed that hole plug before. (I had found about 5 others, which I had already removed) Sure enough, my pull wire was routed in a location where the big 3/4″ hose would never fit. 10 minutes later, we had both hoses in place, easy!

Amber is a genius and I am a moron.
