This is a fundamental value. I’ve heard there is a current general trend of American citizens is toward socialism, so I’m interested to hear this said out loud by Obama.

Blue Indigo Snake

From an email forward

I always heard my Dad talk about the Blue Indigo Snakes (Black Racers or Cow Suckers in KY) he used to know while ranching in the Brackettville/Spofford area before moving to the present ranch in about 1932. He always said, no one bothered them, because they killed and ate rattlesnakes. Of course I thought it was a tall tale, because I never saw one on the present ranch. But while working for the King Ranch down in deep South Texas, I saw several of these snakes. They were big, long and the color of Indigo or Blue ink they used to use in dying clothes. Never saw one eat a rattler, but I guess the truth does come out now and then.

Enjoy the attached photos. Send to all your friends in South Texas and those who hunt down that way to let them know there are good snakes out there.

I’m surprised he didn’t go for the garden hose next.

Video: A March In Manhattan

link

I have been having lots of “bloggish” thoughts this week, but I simply don’t have time to get my thoughts written down due to other things that have to get done. (I finished my tax return last night at 1:30am) I thought this video was very interesting…

Betty Let me Down Today

I drilled and tapped holes on the inner fender and mounted the two solenoid valves and put air in the tires (they don’t hold air for very long) so I figured I’d drive Betty to my meeting this morning. I was pretty proud… she was driving and handling pretty good. I did notice some smoke coming from under the car at a stop light. That was a little embarrassing. I figured it was some of the transmission fluid burning off of the exhaust. It leaked out when I had it jacked up at an odd angle for 3 weeks. No big deal.

About 2 miles from the house, I thought I felt the brake pedal give way a little more than normal. Sure enough, I had mushy brakes. Worse than mushy, after a few more tries, I noticed that I had NO BRAKES! I could get some pressure by pumping a few times. ARGH.

I made it home and popped the hood. Plenty of fluid left in the master cylinder reservoir. No apparent leaks at any of the calipers. My guess is a bad master cylinder or maybe ABS module. Good grief!

A Proud Daddy Moment

We went to the air show in Ft. Worth this afternoon to watch the Thunderbirds perform. Midway through the performance, Amber had to go make use of the porta-potty. 4 of the planes were doing this beautiful twisting/climbing/turning maneuver directly in front of us, when the 2 other sneaky planes came from behind and flew right over us with their afterburners glowing. It was cool and loud and made my hair stand up, but I instantly thought Bryson would be scared so I bent down to check on him. He locked eyes with me and had a big grin on his face, he loved it too!

Disturbing Behavior from Bryson

It was a little funnier when I was hearing about it from Amber, but when it happened to me, no so funny. Tonight while I was giving Bryson a bath, he got this ear-to-ear grin on his face. I widened my view and noticed he was peeing. He also started grunting, like he was trying to pee more, and adjusting himself in what appeared to me to be an effort to aim the stream at me. After he noticed that I noticed his efforts, he started giggling.

After his bath, as I’m putting his diaper on him he starts the grunting/peeing/laughing again. This time he manages to fart on me, but misses me with his stream.

I don’t know where he learned this behavior, but his sense of humor is very familiar.

Bryson swings on the big swing now

Bryson used the big swing today. He actually insisted on trying out ALL the swings. He motioned that he was done, would get down, then walk up to the adjacent swing and point to it, wanting to try it out. He repeated this process until he was able to test every (identical) swing!
