Planter Box Rework

The planter box on the deck had a few issues. 1) There was only 4 inches of soil and 2) the grape vines came in contact with the soil, and they were constantly sending out roots that was robbing everything else of water and nutrients. By adding an extra 5/4 x 6 board and boxing around the vine penetrations, I solved both of these problems. I think I also solved the problem of having Dasher use the planter box as his look out point too, it is hopefully too tall for him to jump into now.

After only a few days, I can see a big difference in the plants. They look greener and stronger.

I originally wanted to use the same edgers I used in the front yard, but I reconsidered, since these will take up less room and give me more room for growing food. A drawback is that I had to follow the slope of the land instead of leveling it up with the house. They were easy to put down, since I already had a good base from the patio pave stones.

At Least Someone Can Make It Funny

Thanks to Jon Stewart, I now see comedy in Obama’s press conference. If I could just look past the fact that my country appears to be crumbling before me, I’d spend all day laughing!
