Recession, Depression & Recovery

Recession, Depression & Recovery:

Recession is when your neighbor loses his job.

Depression is when you lose yours.

Recovery is when Obama loses his.

New Bed Put to Use

Out of the 48 carrots and 16 radish I planted 3 weeks ago, only one plant is coming up out of the soil. Not sure what went wrong, but I went ahead and planted 2 squares of carrots and 1 square of radish in my new bed tonight. I also planted 2 squares of lettuce and 1 square of spinach.

If you don’t like the look of the chicken wire fence, you are not alone. Amber hates it too. I was tortured until I conceded that I would find something more attractive to keep the dogs out.

Ted Nugent on Border Security

This one is a little old, but I somehow missed it. I usually hate hearing worldly advice from musicians, but I love hearing what uncle Ted has to say.

Inspiration for Americans

class warfare, labels, equality, racism, inalienable rights, freedom, poverty, history… There is a reason Rush Limbaugh is so wildly popular, he is brilliant, funny, compelling and articulate. He goes on for like 90 minutes during his CPAC speech but this is well worth the time. (there are 10 parts) I’d love to hear how Obama supporters respond to what he says here.

Jack recorded his 150th episode of the survival podcast on Friday. He tackles some of the same issues, also highly recommended listen, so check it out too.

Strawberry Plants Everywhere

Lots of strawberry plants! My order of 75 plants came in late last week. I built two more hanging planters on Friday. It took me 4 hours to get these hung up and filled with my special soil mix and planted. I now think these planters are too small. It is very hard to get them filled with soil… should have spaced the shelves out a little more.

The planter box on the deck is completely stuffed full of strawberry plants. I started to connect these to the drip water system, but found a big problem that will require me digging up some stuff. I hope all of this effort is worth it!

What Slumdog Millionaire can teach us about economic stimulus

Since the early 1990s, India has cut its poverty rate in half. About 300 million Indians—equivalent to the population of the entire United States—escaped the hunger and deprivation of extreme poverty thanks to pro-market reforms that increased economic activity.
