The Pope and Pelosi

The Pope and Nancy Pelosi are on the same stage in front of a huge crowd.

The Pope leans towards Mrs. Pelosi and said, “Do you know that with one little wave of my hand I can make every person in this crowd go wild with joy?

This joy will not be a momentary display, like that of your followers, but go deep into their hearts and they’ll forever speak of this day and rejoice!”

Pelosi replied, “I seriously doubt that. With one little wave of your hand? Show me”

So the Pope slapped her.

Farmers Market

We all went to the Farmer’s Market in McKinney this morning. I picked up a watermelon, some peaches , local honey and onions. If I didn’t already have a jalapeño roasting tray, I would have been real tempted to buy this one.

Something Is Not Right Here

I was picking up the house (as part of my good husband duties) and went to put the cordless phone in the charger. It already had a phone in it, but it didn’t look right. It was a purple cell phone, the one Nana gave to Bryson to play with.

Worm Poop and Bean Sprouts

I set aside a small number of red wiggler worms inside a 2 gallon bucket and kept it by the back door in the garage. Turns out this worm farm is doing much better than my big outdoor bin. I decided to harvest the worm castings today. Wow, I was impressed. All this nutrient-rich fertilizer was newspaper and kitchen scraps just a short time ago. These worms are amazing creatures, they really go through the food and multiply in quantity very quickly. I’m having issues with ants, roaches, and other crawling critters in my outdoor bin, I think these little indoor buckets are the way to go.

I went to the “12th Annual Men’s Steak Out and Motor Show” tonight, got to see some cool cars and ate a steak that was the size of my plate, then listened to Davey Hamilton‘s story. Here are a few pics of the cars.

Garden Update August 23, 2009

My garden has been a little neglected this summer, but I’m trying to get a few things done for a fall harvest. Last weekend, I cleaned out all of vegetation and weeds in the bed by the back door. The only thing I left was a pepper plant that hasn’t produced anything yet, a few herbs, and two strawberry plants that have shot out runners. I filled it up to the top with some of Allen’s free compost and planted a cover crop of bush beans today.
