Our Harvard-educated president (and likely many, many of the voting public) think minimum wage is a good idea. Minimum wage laws create unemployment and higher consumer costs, and hurt the very people that are thought to be helped by the law.
It’s in every intro econ textbook in the country. Price floors create surpluses: in the labor market, that means unemployment for workers on the margin. I know the president thinks laws don’t apply to him, but–like gravity–the laws of economics are true whether you believe in them or not.
