Chimney Repair

I neglected to keep the paint and caulk in good condition on my chimney, so the wood trim rotted and leaked water. Quality builders will use materials that hold up to the weather, such as brick, but not these homes thrown together by DR Horton!. I replaced the 1×4 trim pieces with a product made by James Hardie. It is basically concrete, and will never rot or deteriorate. It is a little harder to work with and a bit more expensive, but it should be worth it. I’ve got it all sealed up and primed now, just have to paint it and then I’m done.

Merchants of Despair

Who is responsible for the current economic malaise? If you ask Bill Whittle, it’s Obama’s pals like David Axelrod, Harry Reid and Tim Geithner, some of the many Merchants of Despair. These merchants are costing taxpayers trillions and creating deep national divides based on class and race. Will the despair continue for another four years? Find out.

Peaceful Protesting = Felony & 10 year sentence

The trend toward tyranny continues.
From “HR 347 ‘Trespass Bill’ Criminalizes Protest”:

H. R. 347 makes protest of any type potentially a federal offense with anywhere from a year to 10 years in federal prison

The Judge says it clearly and quickly:

Obama Makes Protesting A Felony “Bill HR 347”

Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Mao, and Obama

A friend sent me this article today. It is also published here, but the version I received has hyperlinks to government documents for reference, so I included it also.  This article explains yet another unconstitutional power grab by the Obama regime.  As the US transitions to more Fascism and less Freedom,  I can’t help but to wonder where it will end, or if it will end.  Will we feel guilty after it is ‘too late’ to fix the problem because we did little to stop it when there was still time?

Gun Wisdom

Here is my pro-gun propaganda for the day:

A WORD TO THE WISE
Comments and sayings from various Conceal Carry Instructors.

… It is always better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
And you can take that to the bank.

Words of Wisdom:
If you own a gun, you will appreciate this.
If not, you should get one and learn how to use it.

Shooting Advice:
Cops carry guns to protect themselves, not to protect you.
*****
‘Never let someone or something that threatens you get inside arm’s length and never say “I’ve got a gun”. If you feel you need to use deadly force, for heaven’s sake let the first sound they hear be the safety clicking off. They shouldn’t have time to hear anything after that if you are doing your job.’
*****
‘The average response time of a 911 call is over 23 minutes, the response time of a bullet is 1400 feet per second.’
*****
“The most important rule in a gunfight is: Always win – and cheat if necessary.”
*****
“Make your attacker advance through a wall of bullets. You may get killed with your own gun, but he’ll have to beat you to death with it, cause it’s going to be empty.”
*****
“If you end up in a gun fight, if you’re not shooting,’ you should be loading.’ If you’re not loading’, you should be moving’, if you’re not moving’, your dead.”
*****
“In a life and death situation, do something. It may be wrong, but do something.”
*****
“If you carry a gun, people will call you paranoid. That’s ridiculous. If you have a gun, what in the hell do you have to be paranoid for?”

There Will be No U.S. Economy by 2027

A short message tailored for those people who really don’t care to get too deep into politics:

Pictures: Canoe Trip to Caddo Lake / Goat Island

Bryson and I went on a camping trip to Goat Island on Caddo Lake, which is the largest cypress forest in the world.  The island is ‘primitive’ and only accessible by canoe.  Thanks to my buddy, we arrived about 4 hours late, in the dark of night.  Luckily, we have some really good people in our group, who came out to guide us through the swampy forest and help transport our gear.  (did you know a canoe can hold over 1500 lbs?)  Amazing place, absolutely stunning to be on the water among all those trees.  Most of these pictures are courtesy of Dave:

Jennifer Pahlka: Coding a Better Government

“I love this”

You won’t hear words like that come from me very often. I love this concept, I love the spirit, I love the execution, and I love the direction. Notice there is no use of force in this implementation. (Use of force is something liberals don’t like to talk about when they are promoting all their nonsense that results in massive government, and hence, expansion of force against people) This might not be _THE_ answer, but it is a giant step in the right direction! (and yes, this is the flavor of socialism that I’m in favor of)
