RFID Programs in Texas Schools

Info below mostly plagiarized from Holly Beene Seal:

On the subject of making school students wear RFID tags for tracking purposes (like the pallets at Wal-Mart):  Legislation has been introduced that will make RFID programs at schools voluntary instead of mandatory.  These are HB 101, HB 102 and SB 173.

Recently, the SIA (Security Industry Association) has sent leaders of the House and the Senate a letter in opposition of these bills.   The letters contain bold lies in an effort to build opposition of these bills.   The bills do not prohibit the use of RFID chips, they simply make the program voluntary! (click on links above -each bill is very short and easy to understand)  The letter also states that this legislation would harm the Texas economy but this statement is pure speculation.  There is no evidence offered to back up this claim.  Simple economics: if this product is so wonderful it should be flying off the shelves voluntarily, not because it has been mandated by the government!  This organization is looking for money from the government and doesn’t seem to value the rights of individuals.  They even point out that schools want to do this just to get more federal funding!  And they also bring up the tragedy at Sandy Hook as a last resort heart tug to lure you in.  There is no evidence to prove that a Student ID card with a tracking device would have prevented such a tragedy and it is a far reach to even consider that possibility.
Argument against the RFID chips:

  • No one, much less innocent children in our public schools, should be tracked without a warrant or probable cause of criminal activity.
  • Walking through the doors of tax payer funded education centers does not warrant giving up any of our Natural Rights.
  • A clear violation of the 4th Amendment to the United States Constitution

Urge our Texas legislators to protect the rights and choices of Texas families — support HB 101,102 and SB 173.

Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. ~ Benjamin Franklin

TX HB 568 – Texas Self Sufficiency Act

Texas HB 568 provides for Texas to start thinking about and making contingency plans in case of a failure in the federal government to provide money to our state.

This seems like a great idea.  I don’t think it will cost very much, as it is only a committee making plans.  I could lead to exposing large holes in our structure that might need to be dealt with.

As of right now, it doesn’t list any co-sponsors.  I suggest contacting your state rep and state senator and see if they will support / sponsor the bill.  Seems like a no-brainer to me.

538119_262056187261010_920839270_nThis was a topic on neo-con radio this morning too.  Turns out that most Americans are not actually opposed to killing lots of alleged evil people, they are just opposed to hearing about it and seeing it.  Totally cool with drone strikes.  There is no doubt in my mind what path we are headed down.  Our moral foundation is non-existent. Where each state stands on gun-control legislation

from Rick Parker

I don’t usually comment on politics, but when I do, I prefer to comment about the crazy, mind bending things that our president says. Today: “We can’t cut our way to prosperity,” Barack Obama said on Tuesday.

This is from a guy who just can’t stand to see a single penny not get spent, even if it is only imaginary money printed from thin air, even if it is not really a cut at all, but simply a reduction in spending increases.

Doesn’t the president understand that cuts in government spending does NOT equate to cuts in spending by the American people. If the government doesn’t take everyone’s money and spend it on futile government programs, perhaps a business person will spend that money on a useful project that will produce actual benefits for Americans.

Are Voters Qualified to Play Their Role in a Democratic System?

DCcommonsenseI hope every person who is in the business of education listens to the podcast below.  He gets in to the subject of how the education system will change quickly and leave many many teachers without jobs.

In Dan Carlin’s Common Sense Show 246 “Pie in the Sky Cynicism” he discusses the topic “People aren’t smart enough for democracy to do well”.  “We are not able to deal with the pace of change.”

Then he moves into possible solutions, which is where he gets in to the topic of how our current education system was designed, and what it was designed to do.  This is where he gets into something he has seen coming for a long time:  that technology will allow excellent educations to be obtained by anyone on earth for near zero cost.  This is the application of destructive innovation, and will result in most teachers (the ones that are not the best of the best) are going to be without jobs as they know it today.

This is the TED video that he refers to in the podcast:

I really can’t overstate how badly I want the neocon fuckchop GOP leadership like Karl Rove and William Kristol to disappear and never be heard from again.  They have ruined the Republican party.  Mark Levin agrees so some degree:

When I heard the news about Chris Kyle being shot at a gun range, the second thought in my brain was “why would you take someone who has PTSD to a gun range?”, but I didn’t say it out loud.  Ron Paul did:

RonPaulTweet

and ‘for context’ from Jeremy Blosser:

In 2008 I had the bittersweet honor of walking an Army widow at Ft. Hood through the line of supporters and introducing her to Ron and Carol Paul. She had a son who would never know his father. She’d come out to hear the one who was talking about an end to the violence and preventing more of what had happened to her family.

The Pauls were clearly exhausted from the campaign trail and the non-stop speeches and interviews, but when I told them who I was with they dropped everything to hug her and pull her back privately for as many minutes as they could spare to share her grief and show her compassion. There were tears all around.

That’s the Ron Paul I know, and how he treats veterans and their families. Hundreds (thousands?) of veterans know him the same way, and as the one who got them their benefits and medals when no one else would stand up for them or keep pushing until they finally got relief.

The wars are horrible and need to end. But the people are still people and need care and compassion. That Ron Paul understands this is a primary reason I have always supported him.

Neocons will rarely miss an opportunity to to misinterpret, spin, and take jabs at Ron Paul though.  Check out the comments and source link.

I’ve changed my attitude from ‘people need to participate in the process of government’ to ‘people need to educate themselves’ to where I am now, which is something like ‘when the majority of the population thinks socialism on a national scale is an OK thing, we are not going to turn back to the ideals of liberty without a major catastrophic event, and even then the chances of doing that are slim’. Most depressing is that so called ‘conservatives’, ‘second amendment supporters’ and ‘hunters’ are mostly clueless about the meaning of liberty and personal responsibility.

Calling a libertarian an “isolationist” is like calling your neighbor a hermit because he doesn’t come on your property and break your windows.

Sen. Rand Paul Introduces Legislation Prohibiting U.S. from Sending F-16’s & M1’s to Egypt – 1/31/13

from email:

A forward-thinking State Representative, James White, District 19, has proposed HB 568, The Texas Self-Sufficiency Act, to address the question, “What would Texas do in the event that the United States of America defaulted?”

Given the possibility that the massive U.S. debt could become unsustainable and cause a financial meltdown, Texas could face serious withdrawal symptoms if all federal funds were completely and suddenly unavailable. What would Texas do?

Urge your representative to support Mr. White’s bill.
This is not a secession bill. This bill calls for Texas to be prepared in case the federal government by choice or by actions taken by its creditors finds itself impotent.

Gun Control Law is NOT Targeting Gun Violence

A few simple facts show that the current gun legislation being considered is NOT targeting gun violence:

  • Only 1.9% of the guns used in crimes were purchased at gun shows
  • Only ~1% of gun crimes involve the use of a so called ‘assault weapon’
  • Only 0.03% of background checks are denied for mental illness reasons

So what IS the gun control legislation really about?  Just like the TSA, it is what I call ‘security theater’, and there are lots of ‘useful idiots’ available to go along with it all.

There is also something more nefarious about the subject of gun control in general:  Ask ANY of the leaders of the movement if they could, would they ban all guns.  In almost every case, their honest answer would be a resounding YES.  Each new gun law is simply another incremental step toward the end goal of eradication guns from the hands of citizens.
