We had a busy weekend.  I finished the base of the patio by getting the slope of the gravel base set up, then packing it all with a tamper on Friday. 

Saturday, Brandon came over and helped.  We placed two pieces of EMT conduit down, then sand, and leveled out the sand with a straight 2×6 board using the conduit as skids.  Then we started laying the pavers in the “muster K” pattern, finishing the edges with plastic retainer.  It looks great.

Saturday evening, we went over to the block party, where one of my neighbors had a fish fry.  I got to meet more people and drink beer, hard to beat that.

Then we drove down to Austin for Amber’s cousin Trent’s wedding.  The reception was on the 17th floor of the Hyatt, overlooking the river and downtown Austin.  What a view!  We ate like kings, had a wonderful time, and got to catch up with the family.  The finale was getting to eat at Rudy’s on the way home!

Nothing else is growing in my garden, except my serrano peppers, they seem to love the hot summer.

It has been a work-filled weekend for my brother and me.  We finished the digging, emptied 2 more yards of gravel into the patio area, re-routed the last downspout, tied the downspout into the drain, pulled up some underground wiring that was in the way, re-routed a sprinkler head, extended the drain trench, and picked up and unloaded a pallet of pavers.  All of this was in the 100 degree heat.  I don’t know how anyone can do this for a living!

I have a half-pallet of pavers to pick up tomorrow, then I can start laying them down after I get everything level and packed down.  Maybe I can get done next weekend.

I showed up to work this morning to find my laptop missing off my desk. 

Strange… my power supply was there, just the laptop was missing.

It turns out that our office was burglarized.  Almost a dozen laptop computers were snatched right off the desks!

Sometimes, I just can’t win!

Amber completed her master’s degree!  She had been taking classes out at Frisco and Mesquite as part of the distance education program through Texas A&M Commerce.  She is now certified to be a school administrator. 

The troubling part is that she has Aggie heritage in her blood now.  I hope it doesn’t overpower the Raider qualities!  

I am very proud of her.  (I am hoping for home cooked meals now that she doesn’t have to spend every waking moment on school work)
