Adam Kokesh has a message to Glenn Beck.  (philosophical libartarian gets into hard-core issues that statist simply can’t get behind)

Welcome to liberty, Glenn Beck

from John Jay Myers

If I told you that we all need to be very careful or we are going to be swallowed up by sink holes in our bedrooms therefore we need laws about sink holes…. now.
You would probably tell me the odds of that are like a million to one if not higher, and it’s nothing to worry about.

To that I would say “Tell that to the family of the man who was swallowed by a sink hole in Florida!”

Would you really want to go up to that guys family look them in the eye and tell them “we don’t need more sink hole legislation” … really are you that kind of heartless jerk?

SEQUESTER DOOMSDAY

City Wants Power to “Disarm Individuals” During Crisis

The Constitution assigns Congress the power of the purse and the responsibility to appropriate federal funds. Congress should take up that obligation, pass a budget, and finally get serious about reducing federal spending. Today, forty-six cents of every dollar the federal government spends is borrowed. Our national debt exceeds the size of our entire economy, threatening future generations. And, in the face of these grave economic challenges, Washington, DC, is agonizing over a 2.4 percent cut.  –Ted Cruz

Not Paying Your Taxes is Trending Up

FTFin-taxes-taxgap

Lots of people (and the numbers are growing) are not paying ‘what they owe’ to the government in the form of taxes.  “To cover the gap, each compliant taxpaying household would have to chip in an extra $3,300

Think about this:  Something has to change.  Either 1) the government will figure out a way to reverse the trend and get more people to pay up or, 2) the system will collapse when a critical mass of people say screw it, if they aren’t paying than neither am I.  (this is human nature to think this way)

How will the government convince more people to pay up?  Will they use military force?  Will they make laws more fair?

HOW DID WE GET HERE?

When did we all become institutionalized? The same procedures used to process hogs at a pig farm are used to process the people. And if we aren’t being handled like domesticated animals, we are treated like recruits in the military or criminals in prison — the exact same protocols are being applied to the people at large. We are encouraged to embrace ideologies that put us under the command and control of ‘officials’ and ‘authorities’ and consistently manage us as perpetual wards of the state completely dependent upon its favors. Those that demonstrate their loyalty to the system are licensed to work or rewarded with positions of influence, those that do not are made examples to the rest.

“It [the State] has taken on a vast mass of new duties and responsibilities; it has spread out its powers until they penetrate to every act of the citizen, however secret; it has begun to throw around its operations the high dignity and impeccability of a State religion; its agents become a separate and superior caste, with authority to bind and loose, and their thumbs in every pot. But it still remains, as it was in the beginning, the common enemy of all well-disposed, industrious and decent men.”

Couple of really cool things from Paul Wheaton:

  1. He is making a 4 DVD set on rocket stoves and rocket mass heaters. This is great technology. Cheap, efficient, practical. I think it could help if not fix China’s pollution problem (they currently heat rural homes with open-flame coal fires, which puke off all kinds of nasty)
  2. Appropedia is the site for collaborative solutions in sustainabilitypoverty reduction and international development through the use of sound principles and appropriate technology and the sharing of wisdom and project information.
