Our culture is truth deficient and the historical centers of truth have broken down

Swann

I’m supporting Ben Swann’s “Liberty is Rising Truth in Media Project” Kickstarter project, and I think you should too.  Lots of people are waking up to the fact that most (all) of what you see on television is more about pushing an agenda than reporting the truth.  It goes beyond bias, it is just open prostitution and useful idiots doing what they do… the bidding of someone else.  Ben Swann became noted for covering subjects others wouldn’t touch and for telling the truth.  For example, he is one of the very few who brought up the POTUS’ kill list during an interview.  Read more about his work on the kickstarter page, from the link above.  He is breaking away from ‘the old media’ and doing something crazy, and I think he is going to be very successful!

Kickstarter is an online system that allows someone to get buy-in and capital to start a project without debt and without being beholden to a third party non-customer.  It is the best of democracy in action:  You want something to happen, fund it, upfront.  It is crowd-sourcing.  It is the stuff that is changing our world for the better.  I’m a big fan.  Click on the link to the project and learn more, and be a part of something good.

Anti-Monsanto and Pro-Second-Amendment Groups Want the Same Thing, But They Don’t Even Know It

The audio clip below describes something very interesting and very destructive that is going on right now.  It has to do with different groups of people who hate each other because they have been conditioned to hate each other, even though they both want the same basic thing.

Is this ‘by design’, meaning someone or some group creates the reasons for the hate for some purpose?

“There is not really much difference, we are getting attacked from all fronts, we need to ban together”
“They are fighting for the same things you are… basic rights, basic freedoms”
“It is like they are trained to hate each other”

Kickstarter and Permaculture

kickstarterMy pessimism of  our species turns to optimism when I look at things like permaculture, open-source software, and kickstarter.   There is a sector of people who are magical.  They create wealth, happiness  and goodness.  I just clicked on Paul Wheaton’s rocket mass heater kickstarter and see that his original goal was to raise $18,000, but it generated $92,772.  These are people who are paying hard-earned money for him to create educational DVDs, upfront, with no guarantees!

Necessary and Proper Clause of the US Constitution

we_the_people

A good question to ask any federal law-maker spewing off we need to ‘do something’ to fix whatever manufactured problem of the day is (the problem they themselves likely contributed to) is “Where in the US Constitution do you derive the authority to create this law?”  You will likely here one of two answers, “necessary and proper” or “interstate commerce”.  Both of these answers (if you can actually get an answer) are big red flags that the person answering the question is full of shit and has no business holding an office that requires a basic understanding of the US Constitution.  (like these two guys for example)  I’ll explain why for the first case here:

Background:

Article 1 Section 8 of the US Constitution is the most important part of the document.  It lists out what Congress has the power to do, known as ‘enumerated powers’.  The design was purposefully very restrictive on what powers were designated.  The last listed item is Clause 18, known as the ‘necessary and proper’ clause:

To make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers, and all other Powers vested by this Constitution in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof.

There is a very important word in that sentence that most people just ignore.

foregoing : (adjective)just mentioned or stated; preceding.

Congress has the power to make laws regarding the list of explicitly stated items in the same section and that’s it!  Every law passed that is not mentioned there, or elsewhere in the document (including amendments) is unconstitutional.

Victim-less Crimes

It is strange, like I’m on the outside looking in.  My surrounds don’t seem familiar to me, even though I’ve lived in the same place for 10 years.  I used to think helmet laws, drug laws, and the like were a good idea.  After thinking these issues through, I realize crimes have to have victims.  Laws that force behaviors are nothing more than forcing people to act the way you want them to, and are the opposite of living in a state of freedom.  Here is Nora Craig explaining the proper context of laws and the proper role of government in just 80 seconds:

Today I saw my local police camped out at a busy intersection with a spotter looking in everyone’s car looking for people not wearing seat belts, then radioing to his mob of buddies down the street writing people tickets.  We all know what this is about, and it is not about some bullshit ‘keeping people safe’.  I posted what was going on to my neighborhood facebook page and received two responses, both with a similar theme:

seatbelt2

These comments remind me what a small minority I’m part of.  Look at the general reaction to the excessive force and blatant disregard for basic rights the Boston Police showed after the marathon bombings when they went door to door through people’s homes looking for one bad guy:  The general reaction was joy!  I do not recognize this reality most people are living in!  These are not Americans by any traditional meaning, and they are not friends of liberty.  The concepts of self-reliance and freedom are all but dead now.
