There is really no downside to having your most high-ranking peace officers become more educated and informed about the Constitutional basis of their authority. As our un-elected local police forces become increasingly militarized and federalized, the sheriffs are being downsized and marginalized. This is a tragedy. Our most important peace agencies are the local county sheriffs. Sheriffs are the most accountable to the citizens, and have the rightful jurisdiction to defend citizens against unjust acts and crimes.
The second “Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association (CSPOA) convention will be held on September 16-18, 2012. Read what Michael Badnarik posted on the event. I urge everyone to forward this information on to your own sheriff. (from personal experience, it will take more than just an email to convince him though) This would be a really good event to raise money to pay for your local sheriff to go do! (I ran into my Sheriff Box on Tuesday and was very glad to hear he is going this time)
