Ok, I am finally getting out of the baggage business. I am going to work for Dean Oliver in a few weeks. They are an engineering firm based out of Atlanta with an office here also. I am very excited about this change, as I will be learning new aspects of engineering and sectors of industry. It will also let me spend more time at home, which will be a very good thing. I will be one of two electrical/controls engineers in the Dallas office.
IRONY: A while back, my friend Bryan was interested in a job where I work now, but my company wasn’t interested in letting him interview because he didn’t have experience in this specific industry. He wound up getting a job down in Waxahachie, and used Dean Oliver for some of their engineering subcontracting work. Well, one thing led to another, and I wind up changing careers because of him. Too funny!
Good for you! I'm looking for another job too. I applied for one last week that would mean a $20K or more paycut (big salaries are pointless if you hate your job and everyone you work for everyday); but the position I applied for is as close to a "dream job" as I can get. If I get called for an interview, I'll fill you in on the details.
