The Liberty Training Rifle

In preparation for my appleseed marksmanship class this weekend, I pieced together what is known as a Liberty Training Rifle. This gives me a cheap military style battle rifle, that shoots really cheap ammo. Start with a Ruger 10/22 with a wood stock, add a set of adjustable aperture sites, and a M1907 style sling. Here is what I wound up with.

Detail of the front sling swivel. If you can find the Mil-Spec version of the Uncle Mike’s swivels, they are worth the few extra dollars. They are very beefy.

Rear

Plastic trigger guard and extended magazine release lever are standard these days.
