Cabela’s Coming to Allen

Is this good news?  Not for my fight against spending money!

New Paint on the Walls

Ever since we moved into this house eight years ago, we’ve been saying we want to repaint the walls a different color. Everything was an eggshell color, which was OK, but pretty boring. Today was the day we broke from the past and did it. We repainted the walls in the dining room. Three of the walls are now a khaki color, and the back wall is a burgundy color. I’m happy with the new look!

Post Turtle

While suturing up a cut on the hand of a 75 year old rancher, whose hand had been caught in the gate while working his cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to Obama, and his being our president.
The old rancher said, “Well, ya know, Obama is just a Post Turtle.”
Now not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked,

What’s a “Post Turtle?”
The old rancher said, “When you’re driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that’s a post turtle.”
The old rancher saw the puzzled look on the doctor’s face so he continued to explain. “You know he didn’t get up there by himself, he doesn’t belong up there, he doesn’t know what to do while he’s up there, he sure as heck ain’t goin’ anywhere, and you just wonder what kind of dumb ass put him up there in the first place.”

Garden Update: July 5, 2010

I need to start thinking about what fall crops to plant, it is time to get seedlings started already. My tomato plants have been a big disappointment again this year. I’ll probably buy several seedlings from a nursery to see if they will do better now that the bugs and early blight disease is not a threat. The peppers are taking off and doing great. I have a cross-pollination issue this year, so my sweet peppers are HOT. I have two watermelons developing, and created burlap supports for them. Lots of cantaloupe are near-ripe. The corn, potatoes, garlic, and carrot have been harvested now so I need something else to plant in those locations.

Fourth On Broadway

For a place that only gets 15 inches of rain per year, 3 inches in a few days is a big deal.  Water has no where to go, so everything just floods.  So we decided to skip the parade this morning, but did go out to the street party.  We ate some yummy food and Bryson jumped on the bounce houses.  Bryson said on the way home that he didn’t have enough time to play with cousin Shaun though.

Declaration Entertainment

My favorite writer/actor at PJTV Bill Whittle has started something new called Declaration Entertainment.
This appears to be a CSA-style answer to the problem of Hollywood’s value system being at odds with most American’s value system. Being a member lets you have input and ownership into the movies that get made.
Modern tools like this one made possible by the Internet will hopefully help liberty and freedom win the fight against the dark goals of huge corporations and power hungry elites.

Life of Bryson: June 2010

Amber and Bryson have been doing all kinds of fun things lately. Swim lessons, tumble class, birthday parties, playdates at the park, you name it, they are out doing it!
