from Felicia Winfree Cravens:

So when did prepping for the zombie apocalypse start sounding less crazy than prepping for a possible tyrannical government?

from TW:

Unbelievable. Police shoots mother and daughter delivering newspapers, then says it’s OK, then shoots another guy later. And you want these bafoons to have armored personnel carriers, armor-piercing munitions and machine guns?

I have heard the statement that, “…if you don’t like the job the government is doing, you have the power of the vote to change it. The system works…” This is simply not true. As I understand it, I (or anyone) does not have any real power to change things with one vote. There are 435 representatives in the House, I can only vote for the rep in my district. I have no power of vote over the other 434. There are 100 senators in congress, I can only vote for the two from my state. I have no power of vote over the other 98. I have dubious power to vote for president. I don’t recall ever being allowed to vote for any of the 9 Supreme Court justices. Therefore, of the 545 members of the federal government, I have the ability to vote for only 4. I am totally dependent on all other americans, all other state residents and all the rest of Texas citizens to vote in responsible people. When a majority of americans don’t think like me, I get obama…when the majority of people voting in other states don’t think like me, I get their dumb-ass idea of senators and reps populating the government…when a majority of other Texans don’t think like me, I get their dumb-ass reps populating the government.

I think you do have the responsibility to try to change it, even though your direct vote doesn’t have much effect. It is all too big though
