Betty’s New Fuel Manifold

I wasn’t sure how I was going to handle one piece of the fuel system on the Mercedes WVO project. I wanted to plumb the fuel so that it operated identical to the original design. Bypass fuel from the injectors and injection pump (IP) is mixed with the fresh fuel, and excess fuel is sent back to the tank. This was normally handled by the 4-way banjo fitting on the fuel filter, but since I want to use two separate filters, I had to block off that connection to prevent unwanted mixing of different fuel types. Here is what I came up with:

I think it is a work of art. Any air bubbles in the system should float to the top and go back to the fuel tank, and I retain all the benefits of a “looped” fuel system, where the bypass fuel is allowed to mix with the fresh fuel.

Here are some pictures of it installed.
