Entry for September 30, 2007 – Should I Panic?

When I went to log into my bank account tonight to pay some bills, I had a very strange notice appear instead of the normal login screen, saying the bank had been closed by the “Office of Thrift Supervision“. Hell, I didn’t even know what that mean, so I had to look it up.

The press release makes me think the FDIC has me taken care of. I guess the guv-mint can be a good thing. Guess I’m about to find out.

That totally sucks!! But it does sound like it's all been taken care of. Sheesh!

    Who was your fly-by-night bank?

    netbank.com

At the time I opened it, it was pretty advanced, but I think every other bank in the world now offers everything netbank did, and them some more.

I have full access to my bank again now…. ING is operating it now. It looks like I have 60 days of "as it was" service, then I have to choose something different.
